Your sales turn into cash on your phone

The customer pays on the portal, the zone balance goes up, you cash out to your mobile money number. Every movement is timestamped, encrypted and easy to look up, and you never front any money. The payment methods on offer are the ones used in your country: see the 13 countries served.

The path of the money

From your customer's pocket to yours

Five steps, always the same ones, whatever payment method is used.

  1. The customer picks a bundle and pays

On your zone portal, they choose a bundle and then a payment method from those available in their country. With mobile money they enter their number and get a USSD push on their phone, which they approve with their PIN: MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money in Cameroon, M-Pesa in Kenya, Airtel Money in Uganda, Wave in Senegal. In Nigeria, payment goes through USSD or bank transfer. With a card, they are sent to a payment page hosted by our payment provider, then brought back to the portal.

  2. The operator confirms

WiNet waits for confirmation from the operator or the payment platform. Until it arrives, no access is granted and no amount is counted. If the customer walks away or mistypes their PIN, the transaction expires cleanly.

  3. The voucher is issued

A confirmed payment creates the voucher: the purchased duration and data allowance are applied on the router, and the customer's connection opens. At the same moment you get the sale notification in the app.

  4. The zone balance goes up

The sale amount, minus the WiNet commission, is added to the zone balance. That is your pot: it grows sale after sale with nothing for you to do.

  5. You cash out to Mobile Money

Whenever you decide to, you open the payout screen, enter the amount and your mobile money number, and confirm. The transfer goes out to your number and the balance drops by the same amount. The payout shows up in your history straight away.

No bank, no waiting, nothing fronted

WiNet is built for a cash business. Your customers pay with money already sitting on their phone, and you take yours out the same way. No bank account is needed to start or to get paid.

What fills the balance, and what empties it

The zone balance is the only place money moves. There is no purchase anywhere in the app: every expense is a debit from that balance, and you keep the record.

A full audit trail

Every sale is recorded with its date, zone, bundle, amount and currency. So is every payout, with the destination number and its status. You can reconcile what your balance says against what your Mobile Money phone says at any time.

Security: the money takes no shortcuts

Payments are handled by the mobile money operators and by the payment platform, not by your router and not by your phone. WiNet stores no Mobile Money PIN and no card number: card details are entered on the page hosted by the payment provider used in the zone's country.

Traffic between the portal, the app and our servers is encrypted. Each manager's data is walled off: nobody but you sees your sales, your balances or your payouts.

Your account is protected by a verified email address or by Google, never by a phone number alone, since a SIM can change hands.

  • No Mobile Money PIN is ever kept by WiNet.
  • No card number is ever entered on our pages.
  • Encrypted traffic between portal, app and servers.
  • A timestamped record of every sale and every payout.
  • Strict separation between manager accounts.

Money questions, straight answers

How long does a payout take to arrive?+

The payout leaves as soon as you confirm it in the app. How fast it lands then depends on the mobile money operator. It is usually very quick, but trouble on their network can delay it. Until the transfer completes, the payout stays visible in your history with its status.

What happens if a customer's payment fails?+

Nothing is debited, no voucher is created and no access is granted. The customer can start the purchase again straight away from the portal. The usual causes are not enough Mobile Money balance, a wrong PIN, or a USSD push left unanswered too long.

Are there fees on top of the WiNet commission?+

WiNet takes a single commission on each sale, with no subscription and nothing upfront, and charges no extra payout fee. Mobile money operators do apply their own transfer fees, which vary by country and by their current rate card, and those are outside our control. To find out the commission rate that applies to your zone, email us or check the Pricing page.

What proof of payment does my customer keep?+

The customer gets the confirmation message from their Mobile Money operator, and the portal shows them their voucher with the duration and data allowance purchased. On your side, the sale appears in the zone history with its date, amount and bundle, which settles any dispute quickly.
